This variety is perfect for brewing in a coffee machine, as well as for brewing in a jezve or just in a cup. The coffee has a bright chocolate and nutty flavor, quite strong with a pleasant bitterness.
As in many other Central American countries, coffee was introduced to Guatemala in the 18th century by European missionaries and by the mid-19th century had become commercially important to the economy. Today, coffee is one of the country’s most important export commodities, accounting for 40 percent of all agricultural export earnings.
Although today Guatemala is only the tenth largest coffee producer in the world, it is one of the most important sources in the minds of coffee consumers. With its intersecting mountain ranges, diverse geography and rainfall, the country has all the conditions necessary to produce excellent washed coffee.
